A utility knife is a cutting tool for a variety of purposes. It is used in various trades and crafts. It is designed to be mobile, where you can take it along with you, as it is lightweight, easy to carry and use.

Most people have one in their stationary drawer to use of opening packages and boxes, or to cut through tape or cord.

It is interesting that there are many names for this tool, such as Stanley knife, Japanese knives (in Isreal and Switzerland), penknife, stationary knife, razor blade knife, or simply as cutters.

This also includes prolonged repetitive activity and awkward postures.

Although ergonomics is more commonly applied to the office, ergonomics should apply to industrial workers and also in the home.
