Why should you learn about the definition of ergonomics?

It is a starting point for good work health. Certainly, you do not want to be paying the price by aging your body early by sitting 8 hours on a desk.

Learn to choose the right chair, lighting, desk. Learn to take breaks and do ergonomic exercises.

Understand that correct posture is important and especially how you sit . Check your posture at a computer to make sure you are not straining your neck. You wouldn't want to have the case of a permanent forward neck!

See more examples below.

Why is Ergonomics Important?

Applying ergonomics to the workplace contributes to high productivity, avoidance of illness and computer injuries. It also increases satisfaction among the workforce, not to mention that EVERYONE saves money in preventing them (rather than trying to cure them).

Although ergonomics is commonly applied to the office, where one seeks an ideal work posture and human-use friendly equipment such as chairs, desks, computer monitors so on and so forth, examples of ergonomics apply to industrial workers.

As stated on the osha.gov, examples of ergonomics risk factors are found in jobs requiring repetitive, forceful, or prolonged exertion of the hands; frequent or heavy lifting, pushing, pulling or carrying heavy objects. This also includes prolonged repetitive activity and awkward postures.
